Posse: A Try On
celebrating 1k subscribers with a piece from an australian brand
To celebrate reaching 1000 subscribers (still pinching myself about that!), I decided to treat myself to something off of my wishlist. There were a few items I had my eye on — like the red version of this flat (on sale) I wear non-stop or a dreamy piece from Talia Perla, but I kept coming back to this yellow jacket from Posse.
I ended up going to Le Bon Marché to try it on for size. Unfortunately, they didn’t have this exact jacket, but they did have a similar blazer I tried on as a proxy. I took the opportunity to try on a few more pieces from Posse while I was there and wanted to share it with y’all.
I know this space is usually reserved for fashion, but fashion doesn’t exist in a vacuum. I can’t continue this week’s newsletter without recognizing what is happening in LA. As a Mexican American, it’s been weighing heavily on me. I’ve felt gutted, and also acutely aware of the privilege that comes with being born into US citizenship. I don’t think I’ll ever forget the piercing cry of a child being separated from their parents. My heart breaks as these violent and unjust policies unfold in a country built off the very backs of the immigrants this administration is so quick to demonize.
If you or your loved ones need help, you can find some resources focused on Los Angeles here. It’s also important to be aware of what your rights are (protestor rights here and immigration rights here) — regardless of your status. If you’re curious on how you can help directly, I encourage you to volunteer in your local community and if you’re able to — donate to organizations that inspire you through their work. I’m personally fond of the Immigrant Defenders Law Center (ImmDef) — they’re a non-profit that provides free immigration services to those in need. I’ll be donating the proceeds from this newsletter to ImmDef.
What I Own
Cassidy Dress
I bought my first piece from Posse over two years ago and it holds so many beautiful memories. It’s the dress I wore as a “getting ready” outfit for my wedding. It was important for me to wear something I would want to rewear (also seen here) and this dress fit that requirement perfectly. I found an XS on Poshmark. Otherwise, this one with lace detailing, this eyelet option (more sizes here) or this shift dress are great alternatives. If you prefer a shorter option, this one is for you.
Fit notes — I found this ran big. I would size down one size.

Rio Shift Jacket
I’m waiting to wear this for the first time (xs on sale here and full size run here) for a sunset dinner boat cruise my husband and I are doing for our dating anniversary (do y’all celebrate more than one anniversary?!). I’m also thinking of styling it with denim, shorts and even dresses. It also comes in black and checkered pink, but something about the yellow kept calling me back for months. If you have TikTok, I shared an unboxing video and you can tell how giddy I was.
Fit notes — I found this ran true to size. If you have a larger chest, consider sizing up.

Try On
Lucille Vest
I love a vest for summer, especially when you’re looking for a structured option to elevate those laid back looks that often accompany the warmer seasons. I liked how it paired with these pants I was wearing and can see it being styled with shorts or even over a skirt. The square neck is so chic, and I appreciated the length on this one.
Fit notes — I found this ran true to size. If you have a larger chest, consider sizing up.
Leon Blazer
This is the matching blazer to the Lucille Vest and Lucille Trouser. It’s not something I’d have gravitated towards based on the website photos alone, but I loved it in person. It's fitted without feeling tight, and the length is just right. When layered over the vest and buttoned up, you can see the vest peeking through.
Fit notes — I found this ran true to size. If you have a larger chest, consider sizing up.
Lucille Trouser
These pants taper slightly toward the ankle. They are single lined (in comparison to the vest and blazer), they’re not see-through but you do have to be careful with the underwear color (no black undies). The waist ran just slightly small for me but not uncomfortably so — if you’re looking for a looser fit, I’d size up.
Fit notes — I found this ran true to size. If you’re between sizes, I would size up one size.

Rio Top
A boxy, cropped vest (chestnut color here) that you can mix and match with other Posse pieces. For me, it was a bit too cropped. Sizing up might help, but I’d reach out to Posse for exact measurements if you’re unsure. I love the buttons, which match the Rio Jacket. It also comes in several colors!
Fit notes — I found this ran true to size. Consider sizing up for extra length.

Rio Vest
If you like the Rio Top but want a longer version, I would go with the Rio Vest — it’s a more fitted cut in comparison to the cropped version. I tried a size down and while it closed, it was tight. The bottom has a fun reverse V shape detail, which I thought was a nice touch. Bonus — it’s currently on sale.
Fit notes — I found this ran true to size.

Rio Shift Dress
I’ve been eyeing this dress that’s almost identical for several years, and I couldn’t resist trying this version on for size. It has a higher neckline and thicker straps in comparison. This dress also has pockets! It passed the fingertip test, so it’s school approved. It’s available in multiple colors, and it’s currently on sale in yellow.
Fit notes — I found this ran true to size. Consider sizing up for a roomier fit.
Rosalie Top
I love a polka dot moment (as seen here) and this is a great “nice top” to elevate casual looks. It comes in several colors and pairs well with other Posse pieces — like this skirt, these polka dot shorts or even these shorts that are having a moment right now. You can find a few more sizes here and here.
Fit notes — I found this ran true to size. The sizing can be flexible, I tried on a size down and it was a comfortable but fitted. I also tried a size up and to be honest it also worked as a roomy option.
Louisa Mini Dress
I can’t resist an eyelet piece. This one comes with a removable slip (it has clasps on the sleeves), which I see as a 2-for-1 deal. It fits roomy without being oversized and would serve perfectly as a post-beach thrown on dress or a summer date night look.
ps — it looks like this might be sold out online, but here is a similar style.
Fit notes — I found this ran true to size. If you’re in between sizes, I would size down.
Lori Dress
I’ve been intrigued by this dress for a few seasons. It’s one of those recurring styles that comes back in new colors. They didn’t have my size in store, so the chest felt a tinge big on me when trying a size up.
Fit notes — I found this ran true to size. Consider sizing up if you have a larger chest.

Lewis Tank Top
I was curious about their tanks, so I grabbed this scoop neck tank to try on. It’s made of thick cotton and comes with a great strap width. It has 5% elastane which explains its stretchiness. I tried my usual size and a size up — they both fit great. If you can go sans bra, this would be a great option for you. It’s not see-through and the thick fabric feels supportive. If you’re looking for a blue or yellow option, these are on sale.
Fit notes — For a more fitted look, but still roomy I would go true to size. Consider sizing up for extra room or you’re worried about post-wash shrinkage.

New Arrivals
Posse just released Summer Vol I earlier this week — here are a few pieces I opened new tabs for immediately: this strapless dress with a trumpet style flare (also comes in black), this top and skirt with removable slips and double as a swimsuit cover up, a gorgeous linen dress for date night (as seen on Sylvie Mus), an airy linen top with a slit at the back, this linen floral mini and a vest and skirt set that’s just perfect for a summer getaway.

Posse’s Sale Section
There are some great pieces on sale right now — like this floral mini linen dress, this maxi gingham dress, this white skirt that’s perfect for summer that has a matching top or this embroidered beauty. Make sure to double check if they are final sale prior to ordering!

Parting Notes
Posse rarely does sales outside of their sale section. If it’s your first time ordering, you can get 10% off by signing up for their emails. Moda offers something similar with New10 and FWRD does the same with FWRD10.
All featured items mentioned here.
I hope you enjoyed this try on! What brand should I try next?!

Soeur: A Try On
A few months ago I asked the chat if y’all would be more interested in try-ons similar to the one I did at Buck Mason and y’all said yes! The first request was Soeur, so I popped into a few stores to try on a variety of items and bring you sizing notes. It’s also a brand you see Parisians wearing around town (that newsletter is also in the works!).
You're Sleeping on Buck Mason
My friend and I have been hyper fixated on Buck Mason for the past few months — so much so that I’m pretty sure the sales associates are sick of seeing us there. I am constantly perusing their shop and my friend is a down right addict. To fully paint the picture, they know us by name.

Thanks for what you said about LA and for linking to some places to donate. I think we can (a) feel helpless or (b) feel like giving money isn’t enough but most organizations NEED financial support.
I’m still smitten on the Posse jacket you bought yourself and seeing that it comes in black gives me major heart eyes.
I love your brand try on posts!!! And this was no exception! Also, now I’m going down a rabbit hole of your tik tok - you are just the best!
