My friend and I have been hyper fixated on Buck Mason for the past few months — so much so that I’m pretty sure the sales associates are sick of seeing us there. I am constantly perusing their shop and my friend is a down right addict. To fully paint the picture, they know us by name.
Buck Mason launched a women’s line in Spring of 2021 (date inferred based on what I found online). They’ve been around a little over a year and if it wasn’t for the store on South Congress in Austin I don’t know if I would have ever heard of them. I’m always impressed with their clothing each time I visit.
Most recently, I walked in to peruse with my husband. He had purchased a few items from Buck Mason’s men store across the way (equally fabulous by the way!) and we decided to see what was new at the women’s store. I fully anticipated trying a few things at most and wishlisting a few items for the future but wow was I wrong.
I found myself in an empty store, and the sales associates were just fabulous, recommending options and presenting me with their favorites. Many of which I ended up falling in love with.
What I Tried On
Felted Wool Blanket Coat
I technically tried this on last winter, but it’s getting restocked again for this season! I was looking for a wool black coat last year, something to keep me warm during the mild Fall weather we tend to see in Austin. It was the perfect fit and exactly what I was looking for at the time. It felt like a giant hug — literally like wearing a blanket — hence its namesake. You could wear a thick sweater and it would still feel roomy too.
Fit notes: This fits true to size. I would recommend taking your usual size.

Surplus Rib Scoop Neck Tank
This was insanely soft (this will be a common theme here), and it had a really nice weight to it. It has a medium thickness that can be tucked into your bottoms or folded under to appear cropped while staying in place. I could have easily worn this without a bra.
Fit notes: This fits true to size. I would recommend taking your usual size.
Pima Boxy Crew
Another piece that was insanely soft. It is 100% supima cotton, so this wasn’t surprising — it’s often the softest cotton you’ll find on the market. It was a great length for tucking or leaving as is for more of a cropped-ish look. I ultimately wanted something with a longer sleeve length so I didn’t purchase it. I might try going up two sizes to see if that helps with the sleeve length.
Fit notes: This fits true to size. Depending on how you’d like things to fit, I would size up 1 to 2 sizes.
Slub Easy Crew
Similar fit to the Pima Boxy but just longer. It comes in a variety of colors, but my favorite was this beautiful medium blue that I don't see often. Even though the length is longer than the Boxy Crew it can still be easily tucked without bulk.
Fit notes: This fits true to size. If you want a roomier fit I would go up 1 to 2 sizes.
Mainstay Cotton Shirt
I had heard excellent things about their Mainstay pieces and this one didn’t disappoint. I tried on the french blue color that was just dreamy. The shirt was roomy without being super boxy or oversized. I did find it a bit more snug around my hips than I would have liked.
Fit notes: This fits true to size. I would go up one size since I felt it ran a tinge small on my hips. I was ultimately looking for a more oversized fit.
Surplus Rib Weekender Pant
I’ve been on the hunt for comfortable and warm pants to wear on long flights. I’m typically a jeans on a flight type of girl, but on transatlantic flights I know I will want all the comfort I can get. I tried these on several times and I liked them but felt unsure about sizing. I wanted something that was roomier in the legs. The inseam is also very long, but that isn’t a problem since Buck Mason offers complimentary hemming. If you’re tall, this might be perfect for you!
Fit notes: This fits true to size. Depending on how you’d like things to fit, I might go up one size.

Pointelle Scoop Neck Tank
If you’re into pointelle tops, you’re going to love this one. It has beautiful delicate details along the neckline. You could wear it without a bra or with nipple covers if you’re unsure. If you’re looking for a tank that has just a little something extra — then this is the one for you.
Fit notes: This fits true to size. I would recommend taking your usual size.
Vintage Oversized Crew
A roomy sweater that is generous in its sizing. The fabric feels luxuriously soft. I personally love the rolled up look around the wrists. When the sleeve isn’t rolled up, the length is nice and long. It also comes in a variety of colors and matches a few of the bottoms they offer.
Fit notes: This fits true to size. I would recommend taking your usual size or sizing down for less of an oversized fit.
What I’ve Purchased
Seafarer Cotton Tank
When I initially put this on, I said “oh no” out loud because I knew there was no other option than taking it home with me. I like it for many reasons — the color, the feel, structure and silhouette are all things that stand out to me. It is easily foldable for a more cropped look or you could wear it as is. I also loved that you could forgo a bra and no one would notice. Apart from the fit, I loved the light olive green color. If you’re interested in a sweater option of this fabric, you’re in luck.
Fit notes: This fits true to size. I would recommend taking your usual size.
Linen Rib Tank
This reminds me of the Pointelle tank due to its dainty feel but in a linen cotton blend. I ultimately went with this one because I love the high neck look on myself more. It was a life saver for the hot summer days.
Their tanks have a built-in clasp to hold your bra in place if you’d like to wear one. I put one on to test it out and it held it nicely.
Fit notes: This fits true to size. I would recommend taking your usual size.
Surplus Rib Tank Dress
Okay this dress is what converted me into Buck Mason’s biggest fan. To be honest, when the sales associate brought it over to me, I fully expected to hate it. I thought it would show every imperfection in my body (I’m being self critical here) but I am glad at how wrong I was about it. I put it on and I felt the most beautiful I’ve ever felt in a figure hugging dress.
I loved that I could move freely, it was soft against my skin, and I just had the biggest smile on my face. I couldn’t decide between this color or black. I initially purchased the sand color and I ended up going back a few weeks later to purchase the black color because I loved the dress so much.
Fit notes: This fits true to size. I would recommend taking your usual size.
Surplus Rib Tank
Exactly the same as the dress but in a tank form. I ended up picking this up when I purchased the black tank dress. After wearing the tank dress on repeat, I knew the tank top would be equally as loved.
I’d like to note that after washing my tank and dresses for the first time, they were still insanely soft. I took out various tanks alongside them and I was shocked at how it felt like I had just brought it home from the store. I will be buying more of these. I also love that they are easily foldable if you’re wanting a cropped look.
Fit notes: This fits true to size. I would recommend taking your usual size.
Vintage Wide Leg Sweatpants
On our latest visit, we walked into Buck Mason so I could get my husband’s opinion on the Weekender pant. While trying on the Weekender pant, the sales associate brought these over. Truth be told, I was a bit skeptical because I never look cool (read: feel) in traditional looking sweatpants. Well, after I put these on, I was very impressed.
They are very roomy in the legs which is hard for me to find because my waist to hip to thigh ratio isn’t an easy one to shop for. If you're into matching sets, you’ll want the vintage oversized crew as well. Also, even though they are sweatpants these could be dressed up a bit more for a slightly more elevated look.
Fit notes: They fit true to size. Size up for a slouchier, longer fit.

Merino Cashmere Polo
I had zero business trying this one, but while I was in store I thought why not? First of all, the blue is just the perfect medium to navy hue I’ve ever seen. You can roll up the sleeves, but if you prefer them expanded the sleeve length is generous.
Fit notes: It runs small/more fitted. I recommend sizing up one size.
What I’m Eyeing
Ribbed Baby Tee
I have this in my sparks list (curious what that is? read more about it here or here). While I am not quite ready or have a want/need for a baby tee quite yet, this one makes me curious. Once I’m ready, I will be checking this one out first.

D028 Jet Set Jean
Specifically, the wash that’s coming sometime in October (as I’ve been told!). I don’t know the official name of the wash, but it is the perfect dark wash denim for fall and winter. I look for them on the website weekly — safe to say they have a chokehold on me already. You can browse the other colors available here.

Silk Cashmere Turtleneck
I have looked up their Early Fall Preview several times a week just for this shirt. I love throwing on a long sleeve under sweaters and sometimes like to add a turtleneck under for some added flare. I also love that it has a ribbed texture.

Heirloom Rib Long Sleeve Crew
I have a light blue long sleeve rib shirt from ages ago. Last year, I remember telling myself how much I wished I had a white one. This looks like a strong contender and if it’s like the other shirts I have from Buck Mason, I’m certain it will be equally as lovely.

Silk Cashmere Long Sleeve Crew
I’m very curious about this one. I assume it’s a softer version to the version above — due to the silk and cashmere blend with a few twists. I probably won’t get both, but this one looks to be a slightly more elevated option to the classic long sleeve look. I’ll be comparing it to Silk Cashmere Turtleneck to see how similar it is before making a decision.

Merino Cashmere Crew
This is the most delicious hue of blue I’ve seen. I feel a little silly for wanting to buy it in the same color as the polo, but I just can’t stop going back to the pictures. I tried on the olive green option and it’s an equally beautiful color option. It also comes in red! Part of me thinks that if I don’t buy it, I will regret it.
Fit notes: It runs small. I recommend sizing up one size.
Some More Thoughts
One thing I’ve noticed time and time again with Buck Mason is that they make things really well and are intentional about what they produce. A majority of their items are natural fibers. I think I’ve maybe seen maybe 1 item that has synthetic fibers. In today’s fashion world, that is a rarity.
I also appreciate that Buck Mason doesn’t push a constant stream of releases. They released their Early Fall Preview in early September and I feel a bit ashamed thinking it feels like a lifetime ago, only to realize that I’ve been conditioned to expect things immediately and waiting is often a blessing in the game of intentional shopping, wishlisting and mindful consumption.
A huge plus — they accept returns up to 1 year. This tells me that they want you to love what you purchase and if you don’t, you have plenty of time to make a decision. I think more than anything this speaks volumes to the quality of what they produce.
I encourage you to check out the men’s line too. My husband now owns a few items and is equally impressed with their quality. It’s safe to say we will be loyal fans and shoppers for many years to come.
If you’re looking to try things on, make sure it’s a Buck Mason Women’s store or the location includes the women’s line. Not every location includes men’s and women’s in the same store. You can find if there is one near you via their store locator.
Lastly, in case it’s not clear, this is not a sponsored post. I just love Buck Mason’s clothing and I think you will too.
All featured items mentioned here. I also included the items my husband owns.

Should I make this into a series? I love seeing try on’s alongside fit notes and “real” bodies — aka not posed models. Let me know if you’re into it too and if there is a brand you’d like me to highlight next!

My new Bible. No joke. The seafarer cotton tank has been on my list for awhile and I’m so happy to see it on you! It looks perfect!!!!! Thank you for telling me about this post!
I love your picks!! I had heard of Buck Mason but have never really paid any attention until now. The quality and fit of their pieces look amazing! You're making me really want the vintage oversized crew sweater (I've been looking for one just like it), the navy cashmere polo and the silk cashmere turtleneck.
