Launched in 2020, Fane was born from a desire to create elegant, sophisticated, yet discreet bags. Based in Paris, they were founded by Laurie-Anne Braun and Margot Baudequin who had no prior experience in product development, production or leather sourcing. They learned everything as they went (your sign to just start the very project you might have been dreaming of for some time!). If you’re curious about their back story, this article dives into it a bit more.
PS — I highly recommend you swipe through their campaigns. Their imagery is perfection!
Last fall, Fane was one brand I really wanted to check out while we were in Paris. I couldn’t find anywhere that stocked them at the time, so I sent an email hoping to get a reply with boutiques around Paris I could try them on. To my surprise, I was told I could come by their studio to see their bags in person.
PS — they are now stocked at Dover Street Market! You can find them on the 1st floor. They’re also stocked at Le Bon Marché. As of May 2025, you can find them online at SSENSE.

Their current lineup is made up of 4 purses, each distinctly designed with a specific purpose in mind. Each purse has a magnetic closer that is sturdy and sometimes requires both hands to open. I could comfortably wear any of these bags on the metro or in crowded areas without worrying about someone trying to open them. All bags are produced in the Drôme region in the south of France with Italian and French leather.
Bra Bag
This was the silhouette that had captivated my attention years prior. It was the first design Fane produced and it's been one of their best sellers since its inception. The ribbon-like strap is sturdy and sits comfortably on your shoulder. The bag also sits comfortably between your arm and body — it almost feels weightless. My admiration for this bag grew 10 fold once I tried it on in person — truly one of the best shoulder bags I’ve tried to date. If you’re looking for a shoulder bag, look no further!
In the middle of my try on, one of the founders, Margot (who was insanely friendly and kind btw!) walked in with her Bra in the color stracciatella that threw me for a loop. She let me try it on because it wasn’t available in their show room and I fell in love. She mentioned it was the only bag she packed for her 3 week long trip to Japan earlier in the year and I can see why.
What fits inside?
A decent amount! A phone, wallet, keys, sunglasses and a small lip gloss. You’d still have some wiggle room for a few extra items.
Dimensions
Length: 27cm | Height: 16.5cm | Depth: 6cm | Strap Length: 65cm | Interior: 18x 8.5cm

Lisse Bag
Fane’s take on a tote bag. This deviates from the single strap as seen in the Bra bag for added comfort. It comes with an exterior pocket that fits a phone or other small items for easy and quick access. I would consider this the largest out of all of them in terms of the number of items you can comfortably carry. This one sits the highest in comparison to the rest.
What fits inside?
In addition to what fits in the Bra bag, you can carry a book and headphones.
Dimensions
Length: 23.5cm | Height: 24cm | Depth: 8cm | Strap Length: 67cm | Interior: 17 x 17cm

Mie Bag
Named after mie bread since it resembles its shape. I was surprised at how much I liked this one! I didn’t expect it to be something I’d gravitate toward. This sits lower than the Bra bag, but still equally comfortably. If you’re looking for a fun shape that you can carry a decent amount in — look no further.
What fits inside?
I was actually surprised at how roomy this purse was! I would say it fits everything the Bra bag fits plus has some wiggle room for some other random items. I could easily fit my essentials and my point and shoot camera in this one.
Dimensions
Length: 20cm | Height: 10cm | Depth: 9.5cm |Straps Length: 88cm

Loge Bag
A cross body like version of their Bra Bag with a bit more space. This one sits the lowest in comparison to the rest, but still comfortable around your hip. It sits most easily on the back, but you can wear it on our hip with no issues. It’s a single strap like the Bra bag.
What fits inside?
It fits everything the Bra bag can hold plus a small book and a few additional small items. The opening is slightly bigger than the Bra bag.
Dimensions
Length: 29.5cm | Height: 22cm | Depth: 7cm | Strap Length: 98cm |Interior: 18x12cm

Colors
Their mainstay colors consist of the following (based on my knowledge!):
tofu — an off white that has a slight sheen with a cool undertone (and the most popular color I’ve seen around Paris!)
page spazzolato — a lighter beige, could be considered ivory
noir calf — a muted black, almost matte
noir spazzolato — my favorite of the two blacks, not technically patent but it has that same effect
choc spazzolato — a deep chocolate brown that has a beautiful shine
These seasonal colors change from time to time, currently you can find:
baby — a bright pink, almost deceivingly red
pool — a baby blue that’s destined to be this season’s it color

PS — last spring they had a suede chocolate brown color that I hope they bring back in the future!
My husband bought me one of these bags for my birthday after I finally decided which color I wanted. Can you guess which one?!

Brand Highlight: ZII Ropa
At the beginning of the year, I wrote a guide to mindful purchasing that centered around what I like to call our fashion hierarchy of needs. Ever since, I’ve been toying with the idea of starting a series centered around brands who I believe to be sustainability conscious. In today’s article, I’m focusing on a brand that is making efforts to create clot…
You're Sleeping on Buck Mason
My friend and I have been hyper fixated on Buck Mason for the past few months — so much so that I’m pretty sure the sales associates are sick of seeing us there. I am constantly perusing their shop and my friend is a down right addict. To fully paint the picture, they know us by name.
I enjoy learning about new lines, thanks for sharing Fane! A shoulder bag that comfortably rests against your body is the total HG and love the softly rounded minimalist shapes.
Now I'm dying to know which one you got! Love the bra bag but found myself gravitating more to the brown loge cross body bag. Such beautiful bags! x
