I couldn’t agree more. I would love capsule wardrobe articles to have more generalized categories like “a dress you can dress up or down” or “a light weight coat”. I think I probably fall more closely to the stereotypical capsule wardrobe, but only as a base to build upon. And as you know I’m a very neutral girlie that loves her tailored pieces!

Yes, 100%! They'd be more helpful if they were more generalized suggestions.

I'm neutral-ish leaning that changes in the warmer months where I find myself more willing to play with color. I think truly understanding that distinction and where you lie is so important as you play with your style and incorporate new pieces that feel like you.

Just came here after your ritual dressing post and I absolutely love your take on capsule wardrobes. The more I think about why I actually would want a capsule wardrobe, I realized that maybe I really don’t

Thank you for reading, Leanna! I’m glad it resonated and made you question what you really want and need.

So much of this resonated with me starting with your note on what typical capsule items you don't own. I have two blazers that i never reach for but the internet has me believing I should be wearing one in all 4 seasons! I find that my favorite influencers are women who have very distinct POVs so you can see their staple pieces on repeat without it feeling formulaic or boring. They give me permission to look outfit the very "minimalism" boundaries that are drawn around capsules!

There are so many items like that for me! I've been trying to sell things that are in good condition to create greater friction and analysis when buying. Since I often find selling things is harder vs just dropping it all off at Goodwill.

I agree!! I find myself loving style where people rewear a given piece multiple ways and many times over. I find it more realistic and love when everyone makes it their own. I also think experimentation is so important when getting dressed and having varying styles to pull inspiration from is super helpful.

I have been eager to read your opinion on this and 100% agree! When I was trying to build a capsule wardrobe I kept buying things out of obligation rather than excitement. ‘I shouldn’t get that polka dot dress I love yet, I should get a practical white button first’. A worthy purchase is never a *should*

Loved the note about the embroidered denim jacket- sooo sweet

Thank you for reading and looking forward to this piece!! Exactly, when we find ourselves diminishing what we want for what we “should” have we often end up with something we don’t really love.

Thank you, it’s one of my favorite pieces in my closet ❤️
