If you’ve been following along for a while, you’ve probably noticed I occasionally slip in a few of my film photos when I write about outfits, Paris and all the above. I’ve been wanting to weave my film work more intentionally into my posts, and I hadn’t found the right medium until now. There’s nothing I love more than carrying my film camera with me everywhere I go and stopping to capture a moment in time.
I thought it could be fun to share film photos alongside an outfit inspired by the shot. This idea was sparked by
’s Rent Free! Interiors Edition post and by ’s series on Outfits & Interiors. I love Emily’s deep dive into the spaces from one of her favorite designers and the outfit combinations they inspire and how Molly plays with texture, balance and color. There’s so much outside of fashion that can serve as a source of inspiration when we’re getting dressed. Today, we’ll explore some moments captured on film and the outfits they inspired for me.
ps — if I’m being honest, I’m also trying to practice my styling muscles while dissecting my film rolls. I’m so curious to see how these evolve over time.
Catching Up With A Girlfriend At Palais Royal
It’s a crisp summer morning. You’re meeting a friend for matcha and head over to Palais Royal to sit by the fountain while you catch up and soak in the sunshine. You’re chatting away about your weekend plans, your latest obsessions and overall just having a really good time. You think how lucky you are to share this moment her.
The Look
You pick a linen dress and throw on a trench for a bit of coverage. You slip on some sandal-like mules and reach for a top handle raffia purse — because duh, it’s summer.

Unable to sleep during a heatwave, my husband and I grabbed our books and headed off to Palais Royal to read early one morning. We arrived moments before they opened the gates and we got to enjoy a quiet, almost empty park before the daily influx of fellow park enthusiasts.
A Market Run For Fresh Fruits
You spotted a strawberry tiramisu on a menu a few days ago and now you can’t stop thinking about it — so why not make it yourself? You wander to the market for strawberries but you get distracted by other seasonal fruits, specifically grapes that would make a stunning centerpiece for the dinner table, summer melons so fresh you can smell their rich aroma through their tough exterior and peaches that would be perfect for breakfast or a peach crostata.
The Look
You pull on a white tank and overalls to match. You slip into ballerinas that feel like a second skin and grab a market bag to carry all your fresh finds.

I shot a campaign earlier this month and we landed at a market for one of our shooting locations. I snapped a few photos of the fruit in between shots of the models.

Post Pool Relaxation
It’s day three of five of your vacation. You’re up at dawn to take a dip in the pool because it's the best way to start your day. Plus, you tell yourself that in an hour you’ll be working on your tan. You want something that works over your bathing suit if you decide to pop into town afterward.
The Look
You slip into a comfortable dress that, at first glance, looks like an oversized button down. You want sandals that aren’t your typical flip flop style, so you reach for a burgundy pair. You fill up your raffia tote with essentials and grab a hat and sunnies for when the sun gets strong.

The day after my husband and I got married, I woke up as the sun was starting to rise. I stepped onto the balcony and saw these cypress trees in the distance. I snapped a picture to forever engrain into my memory.

Picnic By The Pond
You stroll around a nearby pond, breathing in the fresh air while looking for the perfect shady spot beneath a tree. Across the water you spot a canoe tied at the shore. It reminds you of The Notebook and that iconic boat scene with Noah and Allie. You make a mental note to rewatch it later. It’s sunny, the birds are chirping and you’ve brought your favorite snacks to enjoy while you switch between your book and doodle away in the sun.
The Look
You slip on a dress inspired by vintage nightgowns. Some people might think you’re wearing one, but you don’t care, because you love the ease of throwing it on in the summer. You pair it with mules and your favorite huggies. To finish it off, you grab a tote to carry your essentials and your basket full of snacks.

This pond is part of Monet’s gardens at what used to be his home and now museum. As we were getting ready to leave, I glanced to my left and saw this canoe floating peacefully across the way. I picked up my camera without thinking too much about it and snapped this photo. Sometimes the best photos are the ones I don’t overthink.
Dinner In The Gardens
Imagine yourself on your dream vacation, for me, it’s the south of France or somewhere on the coast of Italy. You’re dressed up after roaming all day, and treating yourself to a few pastries that you’ll rave about to your friends. You’re ready to drink a glass of orange wine and recap your favorite parts of the day at dinner with your loved ones.
The Look
You put on a dress that makes you feel like an extension of the garden itself. It pairs beautifully with your newly acquired tan and the relaxed aura you’ve cultivated on vacation. You reach for kitten heels and structured purse to balance it all out, and add dangly earrings for good measure.

This was also taken at Monet’s gardens the same day as the photo above. It was one of the few areas visitors couldn’t walk, so I managed to get an unobstructed view of one of the beautiful rows of the gardens filled with flowers and other beautiful greenery.
ps — Monet’s gardens are fairly big! Most of the property is filled by gardens and a pond with a beautiful walkway. I highly recommend a visit in late Spring if you love flowers as much as I do.

I hope you enjoyed this one as much as I did! It was so fun to write and sift through my film for inspiration. If you have an idea for a film photo you’d like me to base an outfit on (or vice versa), I’m all ears!

Signs of Rebellion
As I read Simone de Beauvoir's memoir, I was struck by a note in the foreword that mentioned how Beauvoir and Sartre (her lover) would often discuss whether their friends were free. They were interested in all aspects of their friends’ lives — social class, family dynamics, self image and more. It sent me down my own train of thought — how did I define being free?
June Favorites '25
I hope summer is off to a great start for you! Summer hit Paris like a hot oven with its broiler on high — inescapable heat for days. Last week’s heat wave had us researching cooling systems for our apartment and complaining about la canicule (heat wave in French) to anyone who would listen.
K wait! This is one of my most favorite posts of yours, ever! Bravo ❤️
This is such a great idea for a series, Ofelia! I love your film photos and can't wait to see more!
