Love this topic and your take! The bag that I “just have to get at some point in my life” is a Lady Dior Mini and I’ve been pretty much set on black (patent! for extraaa durability lol) for the reasons you describe… but my heart is always feeling somethin’ somethin’ for the pearlescent light grey or pink… sigh! Good thing this is not a near term purchase so I have time to go back and forth 🤣
P.S. Love the olive/white mini puzzle! so much verve.
Thank you, Jenny! Haha if you haven't already, go into Dior and try on the three colors! Take lots of pictures and videos and simmer on it. Even if you do that a few times. Go with different outfits you envision wearing it with it and compare how you feel! Though, there is never a wrong answer ;)
So here for this…last birthday I bought myself a pair of very luxury loafers in (wait for it) bright pink! Literally I get stopped in the street when I wear them as a pop to all of my neutrals. I’m not such the luxury luxury bag girl…my limit is the Claire V price point (in which there are some fabtastic brands including Cuyana which is sensational) but now…shoes. That there is my Kryptonite. Point is…get the pop!
I love that, Tamara!! Now I want to see a picture of them. 100% I think we all have a thing or two we are absolutely obsessed with. If you have loafer brands you love, please let me know. I'm always looking to try new options.
I often end up buying an item in a neutral colour, but this made me think about how we often measure in wearability. What if we measured in how much impact an item have on an outfit or how much joy it brings you? Yes, a black option will often feel more practical but does it pack a punch, adds a point of interest or sparks joy?
Exactly!! Honestly, it is a hard habit to break. I often have to actively think about purchases so I can truly make sure I want it because I want it and not because external factors have told me I should want a specific color. As someone who leans more minimal/neutral in their dressing I am actively trying for my accessories to be that fun twist to an outfit.
I usually go for the neutral color, but now you have me convinced to try the fun color. The blues in your curated collection are really speaking to me (not to mention the way you grouped everything by color - gorgeous).
I love this topic so much! It's sooo true - I'm always measuring in wearability, but there are some pieces that just bring joy, and I think if something does, you'll find a way to make it work for you. Not necessarily an investment piece, but this reminded me of buying my Longchamp tote in orange. I was immediately drawn to it when I saw it. I tried to convince myself to go for the black or brown version for practicality but I just kept coming back to the orange because it stirred up an exciting feeling vs. the black or brown. I have no regrets purchasing it, and love how it adds something to my otherwise neutral outfits! x
Yesss!! Exactly, I love your orange Longchamp! The first one I ever bought was bright red and I remember thinking that was such a bold choice for me at the time. I think having fun and finding joy in what you wear is what it's all about :)
This speaks to me so much. We often think the 'practical' pieces are the ones that will get the most wear. But when I think about what I wear a lot, it's the pieces that that bring me joy. If you love it, you'll love wearing it! It's especially true for accessories like you've highlighted here - a 'fun' bag is an easy way to bring something out of the ordinary into an outfit without it feeling like you're stepping too far out of your comfort zone.
yes!! joy can go a long way when getting dressed :) I often find accessories are easier to play with, especially if you're more neutral in your dressing
I am a bag person too and during long winters, get realllllllly bored with neutrals. Why do I think color is only for Summer, anyway? When was the last time I actually got a compliment on a black bag that I owned? I was just eyeing a red totoe this morning and I may have to get it now haha!
I love, love this message Ofelia!! Fashion should be fun! And, yes, we want to wear our things and make good investments and all the other adult language we use BUT I love the idea of letting ourselves be called to the fun color or texture. I’m currently looking for a trench coat and I found a red option (and pink) that excited me way more than a standard beige. I’ve been frozen over which to buy but this may have changed my mind!!
ahhh please share pictures on the red and pink options!! One thing I'm also trying to tell myself when I'm between two colors (especially if one is neutral) is that it will be much easier to find a neutral option in the future if I still really want it.
I 1000% agree! They're also small enough changes that allow us to play with new colors or prints we might not be ready for at a larger scale (i.e. jacket, pants, etc).
Where did you get your leopard print belt? I tried one on one last year and I loved the look but haven't committed to one quite yet.

I vote for the fun piece, always! and you need the green mini puzzle!
hehe I think you might be right!

Can't wait to see what you find! Thank you, it was satisfying to group by color lol
It was highly satisfying to see 🩷

I am the same way!! For whatever reason, I can easily wear colorful prints or colors in the summer but it seems harder for me in colder months.
Love that!! I love red as an accent color because it can pack a punch!

YES! Ok I genuinely need a second opinion so I’m DMing you now 😉

Thank you!! I am so happy with it :)
I prefer calf hair vs a leather imprint as well!
