You know that I have LOVED this piece of advice and I immediately implemented after we exchanged messages recently. I put “simple white mini dress” on my generic wishlist and doing so has made me (1) more laid back in my search for it (2) more picky when I come across and option because I really want this dress to be a stalwart in my closet.
As discussed, I have very specific items on my wishlist too but I have found that having specifics can take the fun out of shopping. I went to Paris last year and almost couldn’t shop because I wasn’t buying my exact wishlist items! How insane!
Yay!! I love to hear that. Just like you said, I think it gives you so much clarity on what you want and makes you pickier in the best of ways.
So funny you mention that, because I remember walking into Sézane looking for a specific sweater that they didn't end up having and I basically didn't want to try anything else on. Looking back it made no sense! You need a Paris redo trip. I'll meet you there!
YES, I wholeheartedly agree with this approach! 👏 This is how I write my wish lists and I've found that it definitely makes me more intentional about what I bring into my wardrobe.
Ahhh that’s amazing, Zoë!! Glad to know you also share the same approach and it’s been beneficial for you. I agree, my intentionality around what takes up space in my closet has increased.
Nice breakdown Ofelia! I basically do the same. Generic item types in Notes, then specific items in the Google Tasks sidebar on gmail (I'll just drop the links there directly). Wrote about my system here https://odestory.substack.com/p/shopping-planning-app-list-tools
Also I think we have similar bag tastes haha! The Songmont Song bag in small keeps catching my eye on social but omg the MINI! now that is going on my Specifics list. Also really love your M.Gemi bag! Are you a sucker for buttery pebble leather like me? Hehe. Temptations temptations...
Thank you, Jenny!! I'll definitely read your article :)
I think we might haha I'm currrently obsessed with mini bags and I really hope that never goes away because all I want are small bags for essentials. Is there a color you're eyeing?! I would 10000% recommend the M.GEMI bag. It's so easy to wear and I get the most compliments on it. Yes, I love pebble leather and I think partly for the look but also because if it gets scratched it's harder to see.
I usually keep one big wishlist in my Notes app, but separating the broad items from the specific ones seems like a much more effective approach. Thanks for the great idea!
Thank you for reading, Millie! Let me know if it turns out to be more helpful for you :) It definitely changed the way I approached shopping once I made the switch.

We can go with our generic wishlists and more freedom 😉

Thank you, Lauren!! Let me know how it goes.

I love all the pastels! But the one I would most likely get is ... taupe :x
You can’t go wrong with a neutral! I’m also eyeing Polene’s Beri in their taupe color.

Love all the advice you give! I’m looking for some new summer pieces so I plan to make a generic wishlist!!
Thank you, Leanna!! So happy to hear it was helpful. I'm interested to know what's on your list :)
I’ll make sure to share!!
