What I Wore In Paris This Week

In case you missed it, my husband and I are in Paris for the next few weeks visiting family, vacationing with friends and overall just relaxing from the wild year we’ve had. We’ve never taken a vacation this long and stayed in one place to truly enjoy our days without any set plans. We’ve been waking up and deciding at the last minute what we want to do, often starting with a coffee shop. I have to say, I’m enjoying exploring with no hard timeline or itinerary in mind. It’s a nice break from our google sheet optimized vacations.

For today’s newsletter, I thought I’d share what I wore this past week as we roamed around Paris. I ended up packing last minute and while I forgot some things, my outfits have been coming together quite nicely. One accessory I’ve had no control over is my frizzy hair, that cannot be tamed some days. Send help and any tips my way!

Airplane Outfit

These Buck Mason sweats were perfect for the plane. They were warm, super soft, and I felt cozy throughout the entire flight. I really liked that they were a wide leg silhouette because I did not feel any constraint as I moved around the overnight flight. I paired it with a navy cotton sweater over a light weight tank that served as a layer of warmth without feeling too constrictive. If you like matching sets, the sweats have a matching sweater. It was the perfect outfit and I already know I’ll be wearing this exact combo home. This time, I also purchased compression socks and they really helped while being seated for 8+ hours. I also found wearing comfy tennis shoes is the way to go on long flights.

Day 1

We were still tired but managed to wander around town with no plan. I opted for my black vintage Levi’s (similar color and fit here), my husband’s sweater, a white tee layered underneath and a pair of black boots. I initially wore my jacket (new color here), but quickly realized it was a bit heavy for the weather and the amount of walking we would be doing. I forget how quickly you warm back up once you start moving. I wore the boots out all day, but in hindsight I should have worn tennis shoes and worn the boots for dinner since we wandered around the city all day. For dinner, I added my trusty black purse I carry everywhere.

Day 2

While it was a bit too warm for my coat, it was the perfect weather for a denim jacket (same jacket, different wash here and similar wash, different jacket here). I decided to drape my scarf (similar with fringe here, similarish without fringe here) over my shoulders as a shawl to switch up a familiar outfit. I wore a merino wool long sleeve (similar here) under my denim jacket for some warmth and it was the perfect amount of layers. I pulled out my go to jeans as of late to create a Canadian tuxedo look. Towards the end of the day, the wind picked up and my scarf came in handy. I also wore my loafers for a 10k+ step adventure and my feet were comfy throughout the entire day. Not pictured, but I also wore my OG belt and used my crown affair clip as a “brooch” to hold my scarf steady.

Day 3

We walked around Le Marais with no clear direction in mind (if you dislike crowded streets, I would avoid it here on the weekends). I opted for another cardigan that I unbuttoned only halfway and wore a tank underneath for an added layer. I didn’t want to wrangle my scarf in a high traffic area so I opted to tie a sweater around my shoulders for warmth and added dimension. By the way, I’ve been wearing this wash of 501 90s and they are the perfect medium blue. I added my loafers, because you can never have too many shades of brown.

Day 4

Since I knew we were headed to Galeries Lafayette, I wanted some extra comfort for all the walking we would be doing. I reached for my Sambas and paired it with my usual neutral color look. I wore my vintage Levi’s again, a white button down and opted to wear my brown cardigan around my shoulders as a scarf. If I’m being honest, it helps tame my hair, but also acts as an accessory alternative to wearing a necklace.

Day 5

We headed back to back to the 9th arrondissement, but this time we went to Galerie Lafyattes rival Printemps. My mother in law told me that each store is in constant competition during sales — oftentimes trying to outdo one another with their promotions. We specifically went to see if I could try on a pair of Aeyde flats I had been crushing on. 

It was sunny and bright, so I opted for my ecru jeans (similar here) knowing I would not have to worry about any rain splash zones. I paired it with my blue polo from Buck Mason that kept me warm enough when it got a little breezy. I also took the opportunity to break out my new pair of shoes I had purchased the day prior and added long socks. To complete the look, I added my beloved chocolate croco belt.

Day 6

Another sunny day called for a classic “me” outfit. I wore one of my favorite button downs, blue denim and the latest addition to my closet (on sale here if you’re in the EU) — more on them later. Since it was still a little breezy and I didn’t want to add a cardigan to my look, I added a tank underneath as a layer. This helped keep me warm while the wind breezed through. I also opted to carry my mustard purse around since we mainly wandered around our neighborhood. Finally, I pulled out some jewelry and added my silver cuff and studs (similarish here, here and here) to complete the look.

Day 7

I centered my outfit around these pants that I have been itching to wear — they are beyond comfortable. It was another 10k+ step day and I kept thinking to myself how roomy yet structured they were. I re-wore my brown cardigan, but this time as a sweater over my tank. I also took the opportunity to wear my flats again (similar pair on sale here). My “pop of color” was this olive green bag.
