If you read my feature in
’s Style Series on , then you know I’ve been sticking my hand out the window each morning to get a better feel for what to wear. I also pay close attention to the movement of trees and plants to gauge the wind. If you’re thinking “Ofelia, why not just check the weather app?!” — well, it’s because it’s a liar. While I still use it to get an idea of the day ahead, I’ve come to realize I cannot rely on it alone. The same temperature can feel completely different depending on whether it’s windy, partly cloudy, or sunny. If you live in a city with a temperamental Spring, then you understand exactly what I mean. I thought I’d share the outfit formulas I’m leaning into as I navigate my first Spring in Paris.
Since it’d be impossible to cover every variation of spring weather, I'm sharing general rules I’ve been following that have worked well for me so far. Below you’ll find outfits I’ve worn for different weather patterns — give or take a few inspiration pieces.
Cloudy & Windy, Cooler Conditions
When it’s windy and feeling a bit cooler, I opt for at least 2 to 3 layers. Alternatively, a t-shirt paired with one heavy layer might just work — depending on how windy it is. Ultimately, it depends on your personal tolerance of wind and layering — these are just guidelines that have worked for me.
60°F degrees — cloudy & windy

It’s the first day you can finally leave your heavy winter coat at home. It’s finally warm enough to walk out of the house with just a few layers. You wish you owned a wrap coat and you briefly contemplate clicking the add to cart button, because you tell yourself you can wear it in the fall as well. You stop yourself and instead, reach for another layer and maybe a scarf to get you through the day.
60°F degrees — partly cloudy

You’re meeting friends for dinner, so you swap your lightweight jacket for a heavyweight linen trench. You adorn your outfit with the belt you love and add a silver bracelet you tell everyone you bought on your latest trip to CDMX. Apart from feeling chic, you’re grateful you wore the trench because as you’re leaving the restaurant it starts pouring rain. You're mostly dry and warm as you hurry home.
60°F degrees — sunny & slightly windy

The weather is crisp — almost a little too chilly for a denim jacket. You decide to risk it anyway because you’re hoping the sunny skies will allow for you to feel comfortable on your afternoon rendez-vous. After all, if its feeling a bit chillier, you can button up your jacket to keep out the wind. Sometimes, optimism is a layer too.
Partly Cloudy, Mild Conditions
When it’s partly cloudy and not windy, I opt for 1 to 2 layers. Think cotton, linen or even a light wool option. You want something that keeps you warm as the sun remains partially hidden, but won’t cause you to overheat as you walk around. This is where you can start experimenting with leaving the additional layers at home.
65°F degrees — cloudy & slightly windy

The weather is looking up, you start to wonder how much longer until you’re able to leave the house without a jacket. For now, you take out your favorite jeans, layer your cotton sweater over a t-shirt and bravely expose your ankles. You add a jacket to finish off the look, ultimately to give you some added warmth.
65°F degrees — partly cloudy

It’s early Spring, warmer weather is almost here. You start to mix heavier and lighter fabrics together. You’re expecting to be a little cold with this combination, but the partly sunny skies bless you with much needed warmth. As you continue zooming toward your 10k step goal, you start to feel a little too warm but you love it. You flashback to a month ago and remember how much you yearned for this moment.
65°F degrees — sunny

You accidentally wore this combination on a 75 degree day and immediately knew it would be perfect for when it was a little cooler. A trench coat has officially become your personality and of course, you added it to this outfit for extra coverage, especially during those cooler mornings before the sun is out in force.
Sunny, Warmer Conditions
When it’s sunny and warm, one layer is typically enough. If you live in a city that is cool in the morning and evenings, a lightweight jacket or trench is ideal. On these types of days, I like reaching for a tank to pair with a jacket or button down that I can easily tie around my waist or carry as the day gets hotter. Sunglasses and sunscreen are essential! As the temps inch closer to 80 degrees, you can start swapping jeans for poplin pants, shorts and skirts.
70°F degrees — cloudy
There is a slight chill in the air as you roam around the city. It’s the perfect day for a suede or leather jacket — the roomier and more vintage-like the better. You grab your favorite trousers or denim — even better if they’re vintage Levi’s. You put on socks and step into your favorite loafers to stroll around town.
70°F degrees — partly cloudy

The weather has started feeling crisp. You no longer need to cross your arms for added warmth. You’re trying to decide between these two looks, but find yourself at a standstill. You decide to wear the one on the left today and the one on the right tomorrow.
70°F degrees — sunny & slightly windy

You rush out the house with wet hair, but it’s sunny so you tell yourself it's fine. You’ve reached that magical moment where flats without socks isn’t just doable — it’s encouraged. You toss on a trench just in case, but you know it’s sunny and that’s all the warmth you’ll really need.
75°F degrees — sunny
The perfect temperature to roam around and truly feel alive after a long winter. This is the moment you were waiting for after one too many days bundled up in a scarf. Spring is in full swing.
80°F degrees — sunny

It’s that one fluke day of Summer like weather. 80 degrees in early Spring?! After a brief panic (and texting your friends that it feels like Summer), you oscillate between two choices. Do you wear linen? Do you need a trench? Either way, you’ve got options.

April Favorites '25
I hope you had a lovely month and are enjoying spring in full bloom! Paris has been looking and feeling beautiful lately. I’ve been soaking up the warmer weather and taking every opportunity to wear my trench (as seen here, here, here, and here).
Omg this was so fun to watch the temperature increase and how that plays with the outfit!! I really admire the way you play with layering- certainly a must in a city like Paris- but it still looks chic and not frumpy.
This post was perfect timing since it was 50 and raining on Monday and now it’s sunny and 70 today. Spring is such a hard season.
Nothing makes me more proud than dressing right for the weather, so this post is right up my street! The confusion is real every time spring comes around! So many good ideas, I’ll save this for later - and next year. xx
