In honor of spring starting next week, I thought I’d share what I’ve been wearing this winter season. As I zoom out, I’m noticing that I’ve leaned heavily into what’s comfortable and familiar to me – I have been outfit repeating into oblivion this winter. If this doesn’t hammer in the lesson of not needing as many clothes as I think, I’m not sure what will.
If you’ve followed my instagram outfit posts recently, it won’t be a mystery that I’ve lived in white, gray and black. I partly blame my recent neutral trends on the idea of feeding into a capsule wardrobe (more on that in the future). Ultimately, it’s on me because I made those purchases and I do love a good monochromatic look!
Let’s get into it and take a look back on this winter. I’m hoping to continue these seasonal posts to see how my style evolves over the year!
Sweaters
Naturally, I’ve been leaning hard into my sweaters due to the cold. I own mostly neutral colors, with a few colorful pieces mixed in. I find it’s hard to style these outside of my usual pairing with jeans approach. I’ve been trying to incorporate layering techniques by adding a t-shirt underneath to add some dimension or by pairing specific accessories to make the look more elevated.
As a true outfit repeater, I am doing my best to try different combinations with the same types of base items.

Black Denim
If there is one piece in particular that I’ve been living in, it’s these black, wide leg denim jeans. I purchased them last fall and have found the wide leg element makes them feel more elevated with certain shoe pairings like these pointy black flats.
Another pair I’ve been religiously wearing are my vintage Levi’s. It’s hard to not want to wear these daily because they are incredibly comfortable. They fit like a glove and made me understand the hype around vintage Levi’s. I’ve mentioned them many times in my previous posts and I’ll forever be on the hunt for more pairs like this.

Button Downs
I’ve always loved a good button down – I could wear them daily. I’ve come to realize that different sizes of button downs can provide different looks when it comes to putting an outfit together. I have been wearing my Max shirt weekly and recently added another to my collection in a striped version. I have also been reaching into my husband’s side of the closet for one of his fairly often. It has a more fitted look on me, and I find it gives me shape at the waist while still being roomy and generously lengthy in the arms. Why are men's clothes so effortlessly cool? Or maybe my husband is and I should be stealing more of his things!

Loafers & Flats
I’m a loafer gal at heart. I’ve owned the same pair of loafers for 12+ years. I say 12+ because I can’t quite pinpoint when I purchased them (honestly it could be as long as 17 years for all I know). While they’ve seen better days, they’re still going strong. I’ve been trying to give them a break and wearing more shoes from my closet. These black pointy flats have been in heavy rotation these past few months.
I also added a pair of Jamie Haller loafers to my rotation. They break in incredibly quickly - I haven’t stopped wearing them since their arrival. They're buttery soft and incredibly lightweight. Honestly one of the most comfortable shoes I’ve ever worn.

Statement Earrings
I’ve been slowly and intentionally expanding my jewelry collection. I’ve been focused on earrings this winter because I find myself more willing to play with shape, material and color. You’ve heard me talk about my Artemisia earrings in past newsletters — they are so good they deserve yet another mention! I’ve also been rotating my pearl earrings, my brass earrings and my turquoise earrings.

Next Season
I’m hoping to add more color to my wardrobe. I’ve noticed myself saying this a lot recently: “I wish I had a pop of color.” My spring wishlist paints the full picture of what I’m hoping to add, but I’m mainly going for statement pieces.
I also hope to combine dresses with sweaters as the weather warms up. I’ll definitely be enjoying the mild weather before it gets insanely hot here in ATX.
In Conclusion
This reflection has me wondering why I have so many neutrals - I’m definitely partial to them but I also bought into the idea that I needed these items in my closet as a baseline. If anything comes of this reflection — I hope it serves as inspiration for me to further pare down my closet so that I’m wearing as much of it as possible with each season.
I’d love to hear what you’ve been wearing this past season and what you look forward to wearing during the spring!

I would loveeee if you elaborated on the idea of a capsule wardrobe, I'm so curious your thoughts!
